Melanie Bossi

Melanie Bossi, MPA has extensive experience in the field of biomedical and clinical research administration, and focused her career specializing in pre-award management, proposal and budget development, and negotiation of contracts and legal transactions to support and advance clinical research in academic medical center and corporate settings. Ms. Bossi received her Bachelor of Arts degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland, and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from The George Washington University. Ms. Bossi leads the integration of key operational services that support GW OCR’s programs, including pre-award budget and proposal development, coverage analysis and billing charge review, contracting, and information systems management to support the integrity of these activities across the SMHS federal and non-federal clinical research portfolios. She provides leadership for managing risk and protecting intellectual property, and developing cross-cutting strategic initiatives to expedite clinical trial start-up activities and launch process improvements in pre award proposal development, budgeting, coverage analysis and contracting workflows. Prior to joining the GW OCR, Ms. Bossi served GW and its physician practice group for 26 years in various positions in research administration, most recently as Associate Director for Clinical Research, spent time at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine as the Deputy Director for Grants and Contracts, and served as Director of Contracts at Focus Technologies, Inc., leading proposal development, intellectual property management, and contracting for its reference laboratory, clinical trials/central lab services, and diagnostics manufacturing divisions.
